Stay, Explore, Experience
Built in 1911 as the county poor farm, historic Edgefield is a destination resort in the Pacific Northwest that blends Oregon's natural beauty with McMenamins' signature whimsy. Original buildings have been carefully restored, gardens bloom, great food and drink abound, and entertainment reigns.
In the stately main building there are over 100 guestrooms and hostel accommodations without televisions or telephones, encouraging tranquility as surely as do the rocking chairs on our verandas. Guests may choose from rooms with en suite bathrooms or with conveniently located common private bathrooms down the hall. You’ll find complimentary WiFi in and around the Black Rabbit Restaurant, the Library and in many of our event spaces.
Explore the grounds with a pint in hand. Flowers, vines and shrubs tumble and twine through gardens, a soaking pool shelters under towering trees, and glass blower and potter craft their wares onsite. When your meanderings take you indoors, consider the extensive artwork that tells the story of this magical place and pick up a souvenir in the beautifully curated gift shop.
And that is just the beginning. Edgefield’s 74 acres include distillery, brewery, winery, numerous small bars, spa, soaking pool, golf course, movie theater, event spaces, live music, and fires for gathering – create your own adventure!

Guest access
The Pines & Cherries Retreat includes The Cabin Retreat, and The Red Ranch located in close proximity yet each providing sufficient space for privacy. They can be rented together or separately. Each has its own driveway and amenities. Please note that during the winter when there's no tree foliage, the visual and audible separation between the two properties is reduced.
Other things to note
WiFi is available at the property and the signal quality is generally good, but may depend on your device specifics and location within the Cabin. Hair dryer, portable fans and extra blankets available on request.
The Red Ranch next door is located on the same property and it is a rental. During late Spring through early Fall, the tree foliage separates the two homes allowing for complete privacy in the Cabin. In the winter, the Cabin entrance is exposed and one can see and hear the Red Ranch from there. The inside of the Cabin still allows for complete privacy.
The Cabin is located in the woods and late Spring through early Summer is the prime season for wild mice. We work diligently to prevent them from entering the Cabin but sometimes a few still get inside. Please keep your food in closed containers and/or store it in the kitchen cabinet over the sink and in the fridge, to prevent attracting the mice.
Located in Oregon's scenic Columbia River Gorge, this rustic country home is 22 miles east of Portland, 42 miles west of Hood River, 45 miles from Mt. Hood. Minutes to regional hiking, waterfalls, rivers, road and mountain biking. In the warm months, the large front porch is a bonus room, with a table, sofa, and beds. This south-facing house is light-filled, cozy and family friendly. Everything is on one floor: living/dining room, kitchen, three bedrooms and one bathroom.
The space
This is a rural property, with bucolic views of a small vineyard and sheep farm. The historic Columbia River Highway runs behind the house, below the bluff the house sits on, offering easy access to the Gorge's famous waterfalls and hiking trails. During the summer months, the scenic highway is busy and quite loud during the day with tourist traffic and joy riders. However, the house faces a quiet stretch of countryside, and the porch is a respite, relaxing place. The house sits on a full acre, complete with grassy play areas, a vineyard and fruit trees.
Guest access
Guests have access to the whole main floor of the house and the acre property surrounding. The basement is not available.
Other things to note
This house officially sleeps 6, but there is room for a couple more if the sleeping porch is utilized in summer. We also have a couple of single foam mattresses available with notice.
